GP: TREATISE: Training programme for local energy agencies & actors in transport & sustainable energy actions- Austria PDF Print E-mail

Short description

CO2

Treatise has developed reference manuals and training materials on three subjects: Cleaner fuels & vehicles; Ecodriving; and Mobility Management. The reference manuals can be downloaded for free from the project website and the training materials are being used in partner countries to train energy professionals and other local stakeholders.

Treatise has also developing complimentary web-based tools including and an ecodriving simulator and a fleet management tool.

During the second half of the project, partners will also be implementing, or helping trainees to implement, at least 20 local environmental transport projects.

Expected and/ or acheived results

• Training workshops held in all partner countries
• 3 reference manuals produced, each in 8 languages
• 20 local projects will be initiated

• Web-based training tools produced, including an ecodriving simulator

Lessons learnt

Although the project has not been completed it is possible to draw the following preliminary conclusions:
• There is strong interest in and appreciation of Treatise transport training amongst energy agencies. This is partly a reflection of the timely nature of the project as it coincides with an increasing level of interest in transport environmental issues amongst a range of stakeholders and the general public.
• Knowledge transfer between partners has been a useful feature of the project.
• There are benefits in producing reference materials internationally but presentations and training materials should be produced independently by each partner so that they can be tailored to the national audience and the trainer’s style.

STEER projects promote the more sustainable energy use in transport (i.e. increased energy efficiency, new and renewable fuel sources, and the take-up of alternatively propelled vehicles). The specific focus is on alternative vehicle propulsion, policy measures for the more efficient use of energy in transport, and strenghthening the knowledge of local management agencies in the transport field.
