Bicycle Roads - Suwalki Augustow Lake District
Project Details & Results
North-East tip of Poland has a very unique landscape formed by glacier, so hundreds of small lakes and water basins, hills (including mighty Fujijama - as is called by tourists), forests, extensive dimishing agriculture with growing number of eco-agro-farms providing tourist services. During summer season region is full of tourists and project aims in shifting them from cars into bikes for the sake of this clean area. Activities of project: Preparation of system of bike-paths and signing them and installation of posters with information and a map in some key places; publication of guide with a map (3000 copies). Wigry Foundation coordinated a joint effort of many local NGOs, it was the first such attempt of cooperation in Suwalki region.
Notable Community Participation
Substantial assistance of scouts from Suwalki in signing trial; contribution from PTTK, Wigry national Park, Suwalki Landscape Park, National Foundation of Environment Protection.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
3000 copies of guide book was distributed rapidly
1.System of bike roads/paths was signed, posters were installed . 3000 copies of a guide-book with map was published (quickly dissapeared).
