GP: Infomobility platform in Krakow - Poland PDF Print E-mail

Today some information about tram and bus networks and timetables are available at MPK’s Internet site. It includes timetables for each stop in both directions for each line. Actions planned in CIVITAS-CARAVEL are the development of a Internet information about public transport timetables with a module for interchange at transfer points.

Objectives / Innovative Aspects

The measure concerns the infomobility platform, the developing of an initially static personalised O/D-based trip planning and the comparing of the environmental impacts of individual traffic versus public transport. Innovative are the usage of the Internet, the promotion of public transport by comparison to private cars, the trip-planning including transfers by using the public transport website and the consideration of the random disturbances in public transport operation for travel planning.

The measure

The aim of the measure is to extend the today existing communication channel with new features, such as a trip planner by launching a new infomobility website in Krakow. This website will contain personalised information about public transport services and the possibilities for interchange at transfer points. A trip planning module will give the customer an opportunity to plan his trip, by indicating the system with his preferred origin and destination in a fixed timeframe. This website will also contain information about environmental impacts of using public transport (in comparison to private car) and give simulated travel costs or the most appropriate tariff solutions. Within the measure there are research and technological development activities conducted regarding the development of the trip planning module, the module of calculation of environmental impacts and travel costs for public transport and car and the design of the infomobility website. There are demonstration activities that come with the measure including launching the mobility website. Additionally the evaluation activities were worked out.

Implementation status

A public tender will be made to subcontract the planning module of the new infomobility platform. Currently technical specification is being prepared.

(Expected) results

It is expected that the infomobility platform will be used by 1.000 users per day. There are additionally some training activities concerning awareness rising among the users and potential users.
